Heading homeward after our recent trip to the Circus Bar we were drawn, by the melody from a deftly played saxophone, into The ArchDuke restaurant and wine bar, located under the carved railway arches behind the Southbank Centre.

The venue, since it's opening in 1979 has become widely known on the London Jazz scene and hosts regular live performances. We'd stumbled upon one of the late night sets.

Jazz, the marmite of music genres, is something you'll love or hate. I love it, so we purchased a beer and grabbed a table to enjoy the free performance. Here's a short video snippet.

The Archduke's music schedule is run by Black and Blue. Find out who's playing from a monthly PDF download which is posted on their website.
